My photo studio in 2004, in an old, rented attic space in Aarau. It was almost freezing in the winter. The attic was far too big to heat properly, especially thanks to the thin uninsulated roof.

Why photography?
It has always interested me since I was a kid.

You usually worked in IT?
As a technical designer and programmer, for decades on projects in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.

Also with photography?
Yes, from 2004 to 2005 in Aarau, Switzerland. However, during this start-up time I had too few assignments.. As a result, there was also a lack of the possibility to invest further in better equipment, to make more acquisition, etc. Then I started working as an IT worker again until my retirement.

Why photography - again?
Although it did not get off the ground well in Switzerland, I had a lot of fun with it. In those almost two years, I learned a lot. Not only in a technical sense, but also what you as a self-employed entrepreneur can and cannot do better. Made mistakes I wouldn't make now.

Now, after a few years of retirement, I want to start doing this again. Although it is already twenty years ago, I can now use the knowledge and experience gained. I assume that I can be successful with that, but if it is not, I still have my pension to live on. So I can photograph without the stress I would have if photography were my only income.
